Texas: Governor Abbott Highlights $30 Million Philanthropic Investment To Expand Career Training Programs At TSTC
Rezul News/10734679
~ In a recent fireside chat at Texas State Technical College (TSTC), Governor Greg Abbott announced a new philanthropic investment of $30 million to expand career training programs across the state. The event was attended by TSTC Chancellor and CEO Michael Reeser, Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Joe Esparza, as well as several state representatives and BlackRock Chairman and CEO Larry Fink.
During the discussion, Governor Abbott highlighted the importance of investing in Texas' highly skilled workforce through career and technical education. He emphasized that these programs, such as those offered at TSTC, equip students with hands-on skills that are in high demand in industries like construction, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
The Governor also mentioned that Texas has been leading the nation in investing in career and technical education, with over $8 billion allocated for this purpose. He stated that this investment is crucial to ensure that the state's workforce is fully educated and prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

Furthermore, Governor Abbott discussed how the upcoming legislative session and initiatives like the Texas Jobs Council will further support these programs and maintain Texas' position as having the best workforce in the nation.
This new investment comes on top of the $7 billion already invested in career training programs over the past two years. Last year, Governor Abbott signed House Bill 20 and House Bill 120 into law to expand career and technical education opportunities, strengthen partnerships with higher education institutions, and improve college and career advising for students across Texas.
The BlackRock Future Builders initiative was also highlighted during the chat. This initiative aims to strengthen skilled trades pipelines across the United States by providing grants to train individuals for careers in electrical work. In Texas alone, these grants will help train over 12,000 individuals over the next three years to support the state's rapid growth.
In conclusion, Governor Abbott's participation in this fireside chat at TSTC showcased his commitment to investing in the state's workforce and ensuring that Texas remains a leader in job creation and education. With this new philanthropic investment and continued support for career and technical education, the future looks bright for the Texas workforce.
