Texas: Governor Abbott Delivers Remarks At Newly Founded Post Oak Ridge State Park

~ Governor Greg Abbott, along with a group of sportsmen, made an appearance at the newly established Post Oak Ridge State Park in Lampasas today. The Governor delivered a speech expressing his gratitude to the voters for passing the constitutional amendment that allowed for the creation of this park and future parks in Texas.

In his address, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of providing access to parks for every family and child in the state. He stated, "It's important that every family in our state and every child in our state is going to have access to more parks like this." He also expressed his excitement for the future of Texas and its generations.

The Governor was accompanied by Texas Parks and Wildlife Executive Director David Yoskowitz, TPWD Commission Chairman Paul Foster, Senator Charles Perry, Representative Armando Walle, as well as other state and local officials, and Texas sportsmen.

During his speech, Governor Abbott reflected on his childhood experiences as a Boy Scout in East Texas. He shared how exploring the beauty of Texas and learning to care for and respect the outdoors had a profound impact on him. He also thanked Texas voters and the legislature for creating the $1 billion Centennial Parks Fund, which will allow every Texan family to have similar experiences and connect with their state's heritage.

The Centennial Parks Fund was established through a constitutional amendment in 2023 after voter approval of Proposition 14. The fund received $1 billion from the legislature to be used towards creating and improving state parks. Post Oak Ridge State Park is one of three properties acquired through this fund.
