~ In a show of gratitude and support, Governor Greg Abbott and several other state leaders visited the Texas-Mexico border on Thanksgiving Day to serve meals and thank the Texas National Guard soldiers and Department of Public Safety troopers stationed there.

Governor Abbott expressed his appreciation for the soldiers' service, stating that they played a crucial role in defending the country and the state of Texas from illegal immigration. He also thanked them for their efforts in ensuring that Texas remains a safe place for its citizens.

U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan echoed Governor Abbott's sentiments, praising the soldiers for their role in keeping criminals from crossing into the United States. He commended their dedication and hard work, stating that they were helping to save America.

National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez also joined in thanking the soldiers, calling them the "vanguard" in protecting the country. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin also expressed his appreciation for Texas' efforts in securing the border and thanked the soldiers for their critical work. He stated that he was proud of the Virginia National Guard's deployment to Eagle Pass and thanked them for answering the call to serve.

The event was also attended by DPS Colonel Freeman Martin and Adjutant General of Texas Major General Thomas Suelzer, who both expressed their gratitude to the soldiers for their service.

Governor Abbott has been working closely with the Trump Administration to secure the border, prevent illegal activities such as drug and weapon smuggling, and stop illegal immigration. Thanks to Operation Lone Star and President Donald Trump's leadership, illegal crossings have decreased by 92% since peaking under the Biden Administration. Governor Abbott reaffirmed Texas' commitment to working with the federal government to make America secure again.
