Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Perea To Aerospace And Aviation Advisory Committee

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Col. Omar A. Perea to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee for a term that will end on September 1, 2027. The committee plays a crucial role in supporting the state's economic development efforts by attracting and retaining aerospace and aviation jobs and investments in Texas.

Col. Perea, who hails from El Paso, brings a wealth of experience to this position. He currently serves as the chief of Innovation and Prototyping for Operations Locations in both El Paso and College Station, Texas. Additionally, he is also the Individual Mobilization Augmentee for the Program Executive Officer for Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications at the United States Space Force.

Prior to this appointment, Col. Perea held various leadership positions within the Air Force, Space Force, and Reserve. He has served as Deputy Director of the Warfighting Integration Office at Space Systems Command in Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He also led a 118-member squadron as Commander of the 19 Space Operations Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado.

Col. Perea's impressive career began when he commissioned from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama back in 2002. Since then, he has held roles such as Congressional Liaison, Deputy Operations Group Commander, Strategy Plans Deputy Division Chief, Air Operations Center/Joint Space Operations Center Battle Watch Commander, Satellite Operations Instructor, Satellite Vehicle Command and Control Operator, and Satellite Vehicle Engineering Officer.

With his extensive background in aerospace and aviation operations and leadership roles within various branches of the military, Col. Perea is well-equipped to contribute to the success of the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee in Texas.
