Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Bridges To 490th Judicial District In Brazoria County

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Cindy Bridges as the new Judge of the 490th Judicial District Court in Brazoria County. This appointment will be effective from September 1, 2026, and her term will expire on December 31, 2028, or until her successor is duly elected and qualified.

Bridges, a resident of Rosharon, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She is currently a trial attorney at her private practice, Cindy Bridges Law, and is board certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Her previous roles include serving as an assistant district attorney for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and as a prosecutor with the Special Prosecution Unit under the Brazoria County District Attorney's Office. She has also served as an associate judge for the Splendora Municipal Court.

Bridges is an active member of various legal associations such as the State Bar of Texas, Brazoria County Bar Association, and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She has also been a member of the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association in the past. In addition to her legal career, Bridges is also a member of Heights Baptist Church.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. With her extensive experience and qualifications, Bridges is well-equipped to serve as Judge for the 490th Judicial District Court in Brazoria County.
