Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments this week, selecting qualified individuals to serve on behalf of the people of Texas.

One of these appointments is Jessica Devaney, who has been chosen to join the Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force. Her term on the task force will expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The main focus of this task force is to analyze the top risk factors that may lead to family violence criminal homicide. They will also provide advice and resources to state agencies and nonprofit organizations in order to improve training for professionals who work with survivors of family violence. Additionally, they will collect and analyze information that is not confidential or prohibited by law, organize it by region, and make policy recommendations to help prevent family violence criminal homicide.

In addition to this appointment, Governor Abbott has also reappointed Kevin Scott and Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority (GCA) Board of Directors. Their terms on the board will expire on August 31, 2028. The GCA is responsible for managing water systems and controlling water pollution and waste disposal within its district. They are also tasked with conducting research on how to control water pollution and waste disposal in their district.

Furthermore, Governor Abbott has reappointed Manny Salazar to the Lone Star Workforce of the Future Fund Advisory Board for a term that will end on September 1, 2027. This board is responsible for making recommendations to the Texas Workforce Commission regarding grants from the Lone Star Workforce of the Future Fund.

These appointments demonstrate Governor Abbott's commitment to addressing important issues such as family violence prevention, water management, and workforce development in Texas.
