Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced his selection of several highly qualified individuals to serve on behalf of the people of Texas. These appointments were made to various committees and boards, with the goal of ensuring effective and efficient governance for the state.

One such appointment was that of Dot Cunningham to the State Cemetery Committee. Cunningham's term on the committee will expire on February 1, 2031. The State Cemetery Committee works closely with the State Preservation Board to establish rules and regulations for managing the Texas State Cemetery.

In addition, Governor Abbott appointed Justin Gray to the Lower Neches Valley Authority (LNVA) Board of Directors. Gray's term on the board will end on July 28, 2027. The LNVA is responsible for conserving, controlling, and utilizing the waters of the Neches River and its tributaries, including storm and flood waters.

The Governor also made appointments to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Julia Hayes was appointed and Dave Yelovich was reappointed for terms set to expire on September 5, 2031. This board is responsible for licensing master plumbers, journeymen, plumbers, and plumbing inspectors.

Finally, Governor Abbott selected Matthew Erickson as Director of the Regulatory Compliance Division for a term ending on February 1, 2027. The Regulatory Compliance Division plays a crucial role in reviewing proposed rules from state licensing agencies that may impact market competition.

These appointments demonstrate Governor Abbott's commitment to selecting capable individuals who will work diligently to serve Texans in their respective roles.
