Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced his selection of multiple qualified candidates to serve on behalf of Texans in various positions. These appointments include the District Attorney of the 2nd Judicial District in Cherokee County, members of advisory boards, and co-chairs for the Texas Jobs Council.

One of the notable appointments is that of David Broom as District Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District in Cherokee County. Governor Abbott has appointed Broom for a term set to expire on December 31, 2026, or until his successor is elected and qualified. Broom brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in law enforcement and will play a crucial role in upholding justice in the county.

In addition, Governor Abbott has reappointed Eric Davis to the Commercial Oyster Mariculture Advisory Board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2031. Along with this reappointment, Bradley "Brad" Lomax has been named as chair of the board for a second term. The Governor also made appointments to the Podiatric Medical Examiners Advisory Board. Jose Ayala and Rahul Patel have been appointed while Joe E. Martin Jr. has been reappointed for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. This advisory board provides valuable advice and recommendations to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation regarding technical matters related to podiatry practice.

Nelda Luce Blair has been reappointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Public Safety Commission for a term set to expire on January 1, 2032. The Commission oversees the Texas Department of Public Safety which plays a crucial role in enforcing laws that protect public safety and prevent crime.
