~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced his selection of several highly qualified individuals to serve on various committees and boards on behalf of the state of Texas. These appointments are crucial in aiding the state's economic development efforts and providing assistance to small businesses.
One of the appointments made by Governor Abbott was that of Col. Omar A. Perea to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee. Col. Perea's term is set to expire on September 1, 2027, and he will play a key role in recruiting and retaining aerospace and aviation jobs and investments in Texas.
In addition, Amanda Crawford was appointed as Commissioner of Insurance for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. This position is vital in overseeing insurance regulations and ensuring consumer protection.
Governor Abbott also reappointed Eduardo Contreras, Lisa Fullerton, and Omar Veliz to the Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force for terms set to expire on June 14, 2027. This task force advises and assists top state officials with issues related to small businesses and provides valuable information to the public.

Furthermore, Nelda Barrera, Colby McClendon, and Scott Frazier were appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Texas Agriculture Finance Authority for terms set to expire on January 1, 2027. The Authority's main objective is to provide financial assistance for the expansion, development, and diversification of production, processing, marketing, and export of Texas agricultural products.
Governor Abbott also made two reappointments this week - Kenny Marchant and Ajay Thomas - for terms set to expire on January 1, 2031. They will continue their service on the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs board.
Darryl Heath and Colt McCoy were appointed by Governor Abbott while Ashlie Thomas was reappointed to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for terms set to expire on August 31, 2031. This board plays a crucial role in providing leadership and coordination for the Texas higher education system.
