Texas: Governor Abbott Amends, Renews Flooding Disaster Proclamation In March 2026

~ Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in 31 counties in Texas due to the heavy rainfall and flooding event that began on July 2, 2025. The disaster proclamation, which was initially issued on July 4, 2025 and subsequently amended and renewed, certifies that the severe weather has caused widespread property damage, injuries, and loss of life.
The affected counties include Bandera, Bexar, Burnet, Caldwell, Coke, Comal, Concho, Edwards, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hamilton, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Lampasas, Llano,Mason,Maverick,Mcculloch,Menard,
Real,
Reeves,
San Saba,
Schleicher,
Sutton,
Tom Green,
Travis,
Uvalde,and Williamson.
In accordance with Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code,Governor Abbott has amended and renewed the disaster proclamation. He has also authorized the use of all available resources of state government and political subdivisions to cope with this disaster under Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code.
To ensure necessary actions can be taken to address this disaster,Governor Abbott has suspended any regulatory statutes or orders that may hinder or delay emergency response efforts under Section 418.016 of the Texas Government Code. This includes suspending statutes related to transferring bodies to families as soon as possible.

Additionally,Governor Abbott has authorized the suspension of any state statutes or administrative rules regarding contracting or procurement that may impede emergency response efforts under this declared disaster.
