Tacoma: Officer Involved Shooting – 700 Block of South Stevens Street

~ At approximately 2:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Tacoma Police officers were called to the 700 block of South Stevens Street for a report of a domestic assault. According to witnesses, the incident involved an adult male suspect.

Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 3:09 p.m. and began their investigation. However, at around 3:56 p.m., shots were fired at the scene, prompting a swift response from the officers.

The suspect was immediately given medical attention by Tacoma officers until Tacoma Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after. Unfortunately, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

In light of this incident, both the Pierce County Force Investigation Team (PCFIT) and the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations (OII) have been called in to investigate. The OII will lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

Fortunately, no officers were injured during this incident. However, in accordance with department policy, the involved officer will be placed on administrative leave.
