Tacoma: Lincoln Avenue Bridge to Close Saturday, April 18 for Asphalt Repairs
Rezul News/10732196
~ Tacoma's Lincoln Avenue Bridge will be closed to all traffic on Saturday, April 18, as announced by the City's Street Operations Division. The closure, which will last from 6 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m., is necessary for crews to conduct asphalt repairs near Stewart Street.
This closure is part of a two-day road construction project funded by the Tacoma Streets Initiative. The initiative, which was approved by voters in November 2015 and allocated $325 million over a period of 10 years, has now expired. This marks the second and final day of the project.
During the 12-hour construction window, the bridge over the Puyallup River will be completely closed to vehicles. Detour routes will be clearly marked to ensure safe navigation for drivers. While access to local businesses will be maintained throughout the closure, travelers are advised to plan their routes carefully depending on their destination's location on either side of the river. Those heading towards Portland Avenue or Port of Tacoma Road should take note of this when planning their journey.

The success of this construction project is dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary. Any updates or changes to the schedule will be communicated through pre-construction signage and future notices.
For any inquiries regarding the road closure, residents or business owners can contact Project Supervisor Thomas Adams at tadams@tacoma.gov or (253) 591-5870. The City urges everyone to plan ahead and follow designated detour routes during this temporary closure for a smooth and safe commute.
