Storytime With Author Chandra Donelson and Deputy Bowers in Beavercreek, Ohio
Rezul News/10701655
DAYTON, Ohio - Rezul -- BEAVERCREEK, OH – Author Chandra Donelson hosted a special book reading of The Data Detective at the Carnival at Barnes & Noble Beavercreek, joined by Deputy Sheriff Chrystal Bowers of the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The event brought together storytelling and real-world application, offering children a unique opportunity to learn how data is used in both everyday life and in public safety. After Donelson's reading, Deputy Bowers joined her for a fireside chat, sharing how law enforcement uses data to solve crimes, monitor community trends, and improve safety outcomes.
Children were actively engaged throughout the event—asking thoughtful questions and drawing connections between the book and the work of public safety professionals. One young attendee even shared his excitement about wanting to become a police officer when he grows up.

"The goal is to show kids that data isn't just something they learn in class—it's something they can use to make a difference in the world," Donelson said. "Data enables all first responders to protect and improve our communities."
Donelson also signed books for families and encouraged children to stay curious about the world around them. The visit was part of her national book tour to promote data literacy and spark early interest in STEM careers through storytelling.
