COLUMBUS, Ga. - Rezul -- State Senator Randy Robertson received a 2026 "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in recognition of his support for Georgia's cities during the 2025–2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly. The award was presented during the Columbus City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" is presented at the end of each two-year legislative term to state legislators who have demonstrated strong support for major municipal initiatives and priorities.
During the 2025–2026 legislative term, Senator Robertson supported municipal priorities through his work on SB 298, which streamlines the appeals process for rulings denying immunity to the state, cities, or counties by allowing direct appeals within a 30-day filing window. The measure helps reduce legal uncertainty and the costs associated with prolonged litigation for local governments. Senator Robertson also worked closely with GMA and municipal leaders on school-zone speed camera legislation, helping advance discussions around a balanced approach that supports public safety while addressing concerns important to Georgia's cities. He also took a balanced approach to lowering taxes for hardworking Georgians while ensuring that local governments had the necessary resources to continue serving their residents.
