Springfield: (UPDATE) SPD Investigates Fatal Single-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash at Stanford St. and Meadowview

~ Springfield Police are currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred on Sunday, July 11, 2021. According to reports, officers responded to the scene at the 1600 block of South Meadowview Ave at approximately 2:34 p.m.

The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 41-year-old Johnny Adam Boyd from Springfield. Boyd was traveling westbound on Stanford St. and approaching Meadowview Ave when he lost control of his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle. He then veered off the road and collided with a wooden privacy fence.

Boyd sustained significant injuries and was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, he tragically passed away on Friday, July 16th. The authorities have notified his next of kin.

It has been confirmed that this is the tenth fatal motor vehicle crash in Springfield this year. The previous news release had mistakenly stated an incorrect name for the victim. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available.
