Beware: Criminals Can Steal Your Home Through Fraud and Identity Theft

Rezul News/10712726
Mark Maupin shares his own story to educate homeowners, landlords, and investors about how easy it is for criminals to manipulate property records and utility accounts.

FLINT, Mich. - Rezul -- ark Maupin, Founder of the National Real Estate Network,  warns real estate investors about criminals attempting to take over their legally purchased and renovated property at 2753 Golfside Lane, Flint, MI 48504.

Locks were mysteriously changed with no forced entry.
  • Utility accounts were switched into a fraudulent name.
  • Title fraud and fake leases are suspected.

This is part of a growing national trend where forged deeds, fraudulent leases, and stolen utility accounts are used to hijack homes. Once criminals move in, owners must spend thousands of dollars in legal fees and eviction processes to regain control.

Mark Maupin provides tips for property owners to protect themselves:
  • Set up PIN codes with utility companies to block fraudulent account changes.
  • Install security systems and cameras in vacant or listed homes.
  • Place a caretaker or tenant with a lease in empty properties.
  • Order regular title checks to detect forged deeds.
  • Report suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement.

"If this could happen to us—experienced investors with title insurance and security steps—it can happen to anyone," said Mark Maupin. "We want homeowners and landlords to know the warning signs and take steps to protect their property."
