Springfield Police Investigate E. Atlantic Homicide

~ Springfield Police are currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours of June 9, 2021. At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers were called to the 1400 block of E. Atlantic St. after receiving a report of a male subject who had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified as 42-year-old Christopher L. Kuder from Springfield, MO, lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect in this case has been identified as Mickal O. Johnson, a 22-year-old male also from Springfield, MO. Johnson was taken into custody and the case will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor's Office for review and potential filing of criminal charges.

This marks the eleventh homicide investigated by Springfield Police Department in 2021. Detectives are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477). The victim's next of kin has been notified and is receiving support during this difficult time.
