Springfield: Pedestrian dies in motor vehicle crash

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. ~ On the evening of November 18, 2025, a tragic incident occurred on N. Kansas Expressway in Springfield, Missouri. At approximately 7:22 p.m., officers from the Springfield Police Department were called to the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

According to reports, Rhonda Powers, a 60-year-old resident of Willard, was driving her 2023 Kia Telluride northbound on Kansas Expressway when she struck 53-year-old David L. Woolen from Newberg, Oregon. Woolen was walking eastbound across the roadway at the time of the accident and was not using a crosswalk.

Tragically, Woolen did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified of his passing.
