Springfield: Neighborhood Works Plus Program Kickoff set for Dec. 11

~ Springfield, MO - An expanded program aimed at improving neighborhoods in Springfield is set to launch on December 11th, thanks to the investment of the voter-approved Spring Forward SGF sales tax. The program, known as Neighborhood Works+, was recommended to City Council by the Citizens' Advisory Board and has been given a boost with a $5 million dollar allocation.

Residents are invited to attend a workshop at the Greene County Archives and Elections Center on December 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn more about the expanded program. The workshop will include a presentation by City staff at 6 p.m., where they will outline the program process, timeline, and how residents can submit project ideas for consideration.

Neighborhood Works+ is an enhanced version of the City's longstanding Neighborhood Works program, which was created to implement visible and impactful improvement projects within registered neighborhoods. This new program will focus on collaboration between individual residents, Registered Neighborhood Associations, and various City departments including Public Works and Planning and Development.

The goal of Neighborhood Works+ is to improve livability, safety, and neighborhood pride through priority projects identified by residents and city officials. With planning already underway, construction for the first round of neighborhood projects is expected to begin in fall 2026.
