Spokane Police Arrest Lumberbeard Brewing Arson Suspect

~ Spokane police have arrested a 43-year-old man, David Gilchunmogon, for second-degree arson in connection to the fire at Lumberbeard Brewing on August 23rd, 2026. The arrest was made on August 27th by officers from the Spokane Police Department.
According to the initial investigation by the Spokane Fire Department, the fire at Lumberbeard Brewing, located at E. 3rd Ave and S. Pine St, appeared to be caused by human activity. Further investigation by the SPD revealed video footage of a suspect climbing up a fire escape with a piece of cardboard before descending and walking away. Shortly after, flames were seen on the rooftop of an outbuilding at Lumberbeard Brewing.
The suspect was described as having distinct features, including a specific tattoo, clothing, and a dark colored backpack. Officers were able to locate Gilchunmogon around 8:40 AM on August 27th wearing similar clothing and with an identical tattoo. He was also found in possession of several lighters and a backpack full of scrap paper.

Gilchunmogon is currently being investigated as a possible suspect in other recent fires in the downtown area. In June of 2024, he was suspected of starting two dumpsters on fire at a local business and was also arrested for malicious mischief after allegedly breaking windshields of multiple vehicles at a dealership.
The Spokane Police Department urges anyone with information regarding this case or any other suspicious activity to come forward and contact them immediately. Gilchunmogon is currently in custody and will face charges for second-degree arson as well as potential charges for his involvement in other fires in the downtown area.
