Spokane: City Closures Planned for MLK Jr. Day

~ Spokane City Hall and other city facilities, including Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services, will be closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. This announcement was made by Erin Hut, the Communications Director for the city.
In addition to the closure of city facilities, on-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment on Monday. However, it is important to note that all parking rules, including time limits, will still be enforced. The Spokane Public Library branches will also be closed on this day.
The Development Service Center will not be available on Monday as well. However, other services such as garbage and recycling pickup will proceed as usual. Residents who miss their garbage day can report it online through the city's website.

The Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet on Monday but will resume their meetings on January 26 with an agenda review meeting at 3:30 p.m. followed by a legislative meeting at 6 p.m. These meetings can be viewed live on CityCable 5 or streamed through Facebook or the city's website. Citizens who wish to provide testimony on an item on the Council's agenda can sign up online.
While most services will continue as normal, there are some exceptions. The Waste to Energy Facility and County transfer stations will remain open for regular hours. Spokane 311 employees will also be available for customer service inquiries via phone or online.
For those looking for activities to do on the holiday, Riverfront Park attractions will be open with special holiday hours. Additionally, the MLK Day Annual Unity Rally, March, and Resource Fair is scheduled for Monday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The public is reminded that while some services may have altered schedules due to the holiday, they can still access information and assistance through various channels such as Spokane311.org which is available 24/7. Messages will be responded to on the next business day.
