~ The City of Colorado Springs has announced the selection of Skyler Rorabaugh as the new Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) director. This decision comes after a thorough national search process and is pending confirmation from the City Council.
Rorabaugh brings over 25 years of experience in recreation, operations, and public service leadership to his new role. Currently serving as the Manager of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, he oversees a complex enterprise operation that serves over one million visitors annually. With a strong track record in strategic planning, partnerships, and community-focused programming, Rorabaugh is committed to expanding access to parks, recreation, and cultural opportunities that enhance quality of life for residents now and in the future.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade expressed confidence in Rorabaugh's abilities, stating that he brings deep experience, a passion for public service, and a forward-thinking vision for how parks and recreation can strengthen the community. The mayor also noted Rorabaugh's innovative problem-solving skills and his ability to navigate complex challenges with creativity and discipline.

Prior to his current role with the City, Rorabaugh served as the Director of Campus Recreation at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. In this position, he led operations, programming, and long-term planning for recreation and wellness facilities serving students, faculty, and the broader community.
As head of the PRCS Department, Rorabaugh will be responsible for managing the City's parks system, trails, open spaces, recreation programs, and cultural services. This includes overseeing more than 18,000 acres of park land, 300 miles of trails, 130+ playgrounds, and a team of over 250 full-time staff. The department plays a critical role in enhancing quality of life for residents while also supporting community wellness and preserving Colorado Springs' natural assets for future generations.
With his extensive experience in both public service and recreation, Rorabaugh is well-equipped to lead the PRCS Department and ensure that parks, recreation, and cultural services remain vibrant and accessible for all members of the community. His appointment is a testament to the City's commitment to providing high-quality services that enhance the overall well-being of its residents.
