Salute U P Celebrates Master P With a Genre-Spanning Tribute and No Videos

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Rezul -- No Limit East will release Salute U P (Master P Tribute), a new tribute project produced by La'Nardo Myrick Sr. aka Producer 9-0, in honor of the birthday of Percy Miller Sr.

What makes this release different is not only the artist lineup, but the artistic choice behind it: there are no music videos attached to the project.

Producer 9-0 says that decision was deliberate.

"I wanted the music to stand out and last forever," he said. "Too much gets dressed up today. This one had to breathe on its own."

The release gathers a broad cast of artists, including Producer 9-0, Sandy Ann Coleman, Voices of Song, White Boi Lee, Mirk Mantra, T-Gozey, Brodee Frank, Missy Bee, Miss Brodie, Yung Boogie, Miss Debbie Lee, Darnell B. Smooth, and additional collaborators connected from as far as Ukraine and Australia.

The tribute is also sonically broad. Rather than staying confined to one formula, Producer 9-0 describes the record as a celebration of musical range.

"This is not just gangster music. It's not just hip-hop or pop. It's country, jazz, reggae, soul, and truth," he said. "That's what I felt while helping write and shape this project."

That wide-lens approach reflects the scale of the man being honored. Percy Miller's public legacy extends beyond rap stardom. He is associated with the rise of No Limit Records, the expansion of Southern rap's commercial reach, and a sustained presence in business and civic life. Recent reporting has also highlighted his leadership role with the University of New Orleans basketball program and his continuing profile as a New Orleans ambassador.
