Nominations Open for Bloomington's Annual Women's Awards

~ The Commission on the Status of Women in Bloomington is currently seeking nominations for its 2026 annual awards. These awards aim to recognize and celebrate local women and girls who are making a difference in their community through their leadership, breaking barriers, and inspiring others.
The award winners will be honored at the Women's History Month Luncheon on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. This event will highlight the outstanding contributions and leadership of women in Bloomington. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.
Nominations are being accepted for four categories: Woman of the Year Award, Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution Award, Emerging Leader Award, and Young Woman of the Year Award. The Woman of the Year Award recognizes a woman who has made a significant impact on other women through community service, inspiration, or professional accomplishments beyond her job responsibilities. The recipient is someone who serves as a positive role model and has made extraordinary contributions to the community.

The Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution Award is named after the late Toby Strout, former director of Middle Way House and member of the Commission. This award honors a woman whose leadership and service have greatly advanced the status of women in Bloomington.
The Emerging Leader Award will be presented to a woman with less than five years of experience who has shown exceptional promise for future leadership and contributions. Lastly, the Young Woman of the Year Award recognizes a young woman between the ages of 11-18 who has already made an impact by advocating for girls' and women's issues in her community. Self-nominations are encouraged for this category.
Nomination forms can be found online at form.jotform.com/CFRDForms/2026WomensAwards or by contacting Marissa Parr-Scott. Nominations should clearly explain why the nominee deserves the award and provide specific examples of how their community service has positively impacted women. Both the nominee's and nominator's full name, address, phone number, and email address should be included in the nomination.
