New Thriller Transports Readers to Russia's Remote Kamchatka Peninsula

North Carolina author Kimberly Van Kramer releases The Kamchatka Incident, now available in ebook, paperback, and hardcover
CARY, N.C. - Rezul -- Few places on Earth are as remote — or as volatile — as Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, a land of active volcanoes, dense wilderness, and near-total isolation from the outside world. It's there that Cary author and artist Kimberly Van Kramer sets her gripping new thriller, The Kamchatka Incident, now available in ebook and paperback through major global retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple Books. A cinematic multi-voice audiobook edition launches this month.
The novel follows two investigators after an unusual mauling in the peninsula's volcanic wilderness pulls them into a dangerous chain of events — one that draws in international scientists, Russian operatives, and a threat long buried beneath the region's shifting terrain. As alliances fracture and the isolation of the setting closes in, the pair must uncover the truth before it's too late.

Van Kramer, an award-winning designer turned novelist, has long been drawn to remote and untamed landscapes. Her lifelong fascination with ecology, paired with extensive personal travel, informs the vivid natural detail and atmospheric tension that define the book's setting. Originally from Wisconsin, she also lived in the Netherlands before settling in Cary, North Carolina, where she continues to write science-driven stories inspired by the same questions that fascinated her as a child — how far humanity can push the boundaries of nature, and what happens when those boundaries push back.
The Kamchatka Incident is available now in multiple formats, with additional editions forthcoming.
