New Book - Honoring the 400th Commemoration of Francis Bacon
MESA, Ariz. - Rezul -- Mesa, AZ — A New Way to Know, a new middle grade novel by former award-winning science teacher and author Jeremy D. Scholz, will be released on February 2, 2026, coinciding with the 400th commemoration of Francis Bacon, one of the foundational thinkers behind the modern scientific method.
Written for readers ages 8–12, A New Way to Know introduces young audiences to the power of curiosity, observation, and evidence-based thinking through an engaging historical narrative inspired by Bacon's revolutionary ideas. The novel invites readers to explore how asking better questions can change not only what we know—but how we come to know it.
The release also aligns with the ongoing educational and scholarly work of the Francis Bacon Society, which for decades has promoted the study and understanding of Bacon's philosophy, scientific legacy, and enduring influence on education and inquiry.

"Francis Bacon believed knowledge should be active, tested, and shared for the benefit of all," said Scholz. "A New Way to Know is my attempt to translate that idea for young readers—especially those who are naturally curious but may not always feel at home in traditional classrooms."
Unlike traditional biographies, A New Way to Know is designed as a story-driven entry point into big ideas: skepticism, experimentation, and the courage to question accepted truths. The book is particularly well-suited for classrooms, homeschool environments, and families seeking cross-curricular connections between history, science, and critical thinking.
Educators have noted the growing need for literature that encourages inquiry rather than rote memorization. Scholz's background as a classroom teacher shapes the novel's accessible language, emotional grounding, and discussion-ready themes.
"This book isn't about memorizing dates or definitions," Scholz added. "It's about giving kids permission to wonder—and showing them that curiosity has always been a powerful force for change."
