Naperville: Structure Fire in 1800 Block of Paxton Drive

~ Naperville Fire Department Responds to Residential Fire

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:39 a.m., the Naperville Fire Department received a call from the Naperville Emergency Communications Center reporting an exterior fire at a single-family residence. The initial report stated that a refuse container placed against the home had caught fire.

In response to the call, a general alarm was immediately dispatched, sending 24 personnel and 10 pieces of fire apparatus to the scene. The first unit arrived at 11:40 a.m. and reported that the exterior of the home was actively burning, with flames spreading into the attic area. Fortunately, the sole occupant of the home had safely evacuated before the arrival of the fire department.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to suppress the fire and prevent it from spreading further. At the same time, additional crews conducted searches to ensure everyone was safely outside and that there were no signs of fire inside the home.

Thanks to their aggressive efforts and coordinated actions, the fire was declared under control at 11:49 a.m. Crews remained on scene for an additional 30 minutes to conduct overhaul and extinguish any remaining hot spots. They also monitored for potential re-ignition.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported to either the resident or responding personnel. However, following an inspection by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Department, it was deemed that the residence was uninhabitable. The estimated damage to both structure and contents is believed to exceed $100,000.

After further investigation, it was determined that the cause of the fire was accidental in nature. The Naperville Fire Department received assistance from various departments including Naperville Police Department, Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, Aurora Fire Department, Naperville Electric Department and Naperville Transportation Engineering and Development Department.

The quick response and efficient actions taken by all involved helped to prevent any serious injuries or further damage. The Naperville Fire Department reminds residents to always be cautious when disposing of flammable materials and to have working smoke detectors in their homes.
