Michelle Ian Releases New Horror Suspense Thriller - Shadows Are Falling
Rezul News/10745195
NEW YORK - Rezul -- Some ghosts don't stay buried. Some monsters aren't born—they're awakened.
A child is murdered. The evidence makes no sense. And in the frozen darkness of a small Montana town, something is waiting to be found.
Shadows Are Falling, the new horror suspense thriller by Michelle Ian, was released September 5, 2026. Blending a disturbing murder investigation with psychological and supernatural horror, the novel follows medical examiner Dr. Robert Qiu into a case where science may not be enough to explain what left a ten-year-old boy dead in his own bedroom.
On November 19, 1982, the quiet town of Fishbone, Montana, is shattered when ten-year-old Benjamin "Benji" Larsen is brutally killed. His older sister is just down the hall, unaware of what is happening only feet away. The crime scene offers few answers, and the evidence raises a terrifying possibility: whatever attacked the boy may have been neither entirely human nor animal.
Sheriff Peter Stubbe turns to Dr. Robert Qiu, a highly skilled medical examiner carrying scars that go far beyond his work with the dead. Haunted by tragedy and memories he has never fully escaped, Qiu comes to Fishbone determined to let the evidence lead him to the truth.

Instead, the investigation begins leading him somewhere much darker.
As Qiu digs into the circumstances surrounding the killing, the distinction between forensic fact and impossible explanation starts to break down. Fishbone's snowy isolation becomes increasingly threatening, old ghosts return, and Qiu is forced to confront the possibility that what he is hunting may have a connection to horrors he once refused to believe were real.
Part murder mystery and part supernatural nightmare, Shadows Are Falling explores what happens when the certainty of science collides with something that should not exist. Graphic crime scenes, buried secrets, small-town suspicion, dark humor, and a protagonist pursued by his own past come together in a story aimed at readers who like horror with a strong investigative element at its center.
At the heart of the novel is a chilling question: What waits in the shadows, man, beast... or something worse?
And as the danger turns toward Qiu himself, solving the murder may become a matter of
