Mesa: Nostalgic Holiday Characters Return to Merry Main Street

Rezul News/10723157
~ Downtown Mesa is getting into the holiday spirit with its annual Merry Main Street festival, featuring beloved characters from the classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer television special. Visitors to the area will be greeted by Bumble the Abominable Snow Man at the Winter Wonderland ice rink and moviegoers can catch a glimpse of Rudolph himself at the Mesa Arts Center Alliance Pavilion. Other familiar faces such as Yukon Cornelius, Sam the Snowman, and Hermey the Misfit Elf can also be found throughout downtown, providing plenty of photo opportunities for all.

But that's not all that Merry Main Street has to offer this year. In a nod to nostalgia, large holiday ornaments from the 1960s and 70s have been restored and are now on display at various locations including Main Street and Macdonald, as well as inside The Post where Santa makes regular appearances on Fridays and Saturdays until December 20th.

For those looking for some outdoor fun, The Plaza at Mesa City Center offers ice skating under the stars daily until January 10th (excluding Christmas Day). And for a unique movie experience, Holiday Movies at the Plaza will be showing festive films every Friday until January 2nd. Moviegoers can either watch while skating or bring blankets to sit and enjoy classic holiday movies on a large screen provided by ASU Mix Center. All movies will also be closed-captioned for those who are hard of hearing.
