CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, along with the Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) and Chicago Early Learning, are gearing up for a special event to celebrate America's 250th birthday. The second-ever "Chicago's Largest Playdate" will take place on Saturday, June 27 at Humboldt Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free playdate is expected to bring together children ages three to five and their families from all over the city. This event follows the success of the first Playdate held on April 10 at Maggie Daley Park, which quickly reached its RSVP cap of 1,000 attendees. The America 250 Playdate has also reached its capacity with 1,250 RSVPs.

Mayor Johnson expressed his excitement for the event, stating that after seeing the turnout at the first Playdate in April, they knew they had to make it bigger. He also emphasized the importance of coming together as a community to spread joy and support young residents and their families.

Resource tables will also be available for families seeking information about preschool options for the upcoming school year.

Angela Green, Commissioner of DFSS, expressed her enthusiasm for welcoming families from all over Chicago to this event. She believes that "The City's Largest Play Date reflects the very best of Chicago," bringing families together through play while celebrating childhood.

The event is made possible by various partners such as DFSS Children's Services Division, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, Austin Childcare Providers Network, Illinois Action for Children, early childhood community-based organizations, and other family service partners. Home Run Inn has also generously partnered to provide grab-and-go pizza slices, cookies, and bottled water for the attendees.
