Maryland Farm & Harvest Visits Locations in Anne Arundel, Cecil, Frederick, Howard, and Kent Counties During December 16 Episode

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 11, 2025) ~ Maryland Public Television's popular original series, Maryland Farm & Harvest, is back for its 13th season and will be featuring farms and locations in five different counties. The episode is set to premiere on Tuesday, December 16 and a preview is already available on the series' webpage at mpt.org/farm.

The show, which airs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on MPT and online at mpt.org/livestream, takes viewers on a journey across the state of Maryland to showcase the farms, people, and technology that are essential to sustain and grow agriculture in the state. As Maryland's number one commercial industry, it is important to shed light on the hard work and dedication of those involved in farming.

The episode will begin with introductions filmed at Boordy Vineyards in Hydes (Baltimore County) before diving into three different stories from Howard, Kent, Cecil, Frederick, and Anne Arundel counties.

One of the stories featured in this episode focuses on solar farming in Howard and Kent counties. With the increasing demand for renewable energy sources, farmers are now using solar panels to power their homes and businesses. However, this has caused a divide among farmers as they struggle to find a balance between using their land for farming or for solar panels. The episode will feature two families who share their perspectives and experiences with solar farming – brothers Chris and Rob Davis of Rich Levels Grain in Galena and the Stonesifer/Dixon family of Triple Creek Farm in West Friendship.

Another story follows Braeden Bumpers and Tyler Hegamyer of McClintock Distilling in Cecil and Frederick counties as they honor Maryland's historic rye whiskey tradition by using organic heritage grains sourced from local farmers. Viewers will get a glimpse into one of these farms – Wallin Organic Farm in Warwick – where organic Spooner rye is grown before being harvested and distilled into whiskey at McClintock.

The episode will also feature the annual Governor's Buy Local Cookout in Anne Arundel County, hosted by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Viewers will get to see some of the delicious treats from local restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses while also learning about the importance of buying locally produced products. The cookout also includes a "People's Choice Award" competition and interviews with Governor Wes Moore and Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Atticks.

Maryland Farm & Harvest has been a hit with viewers since its debut in 2013, with over 19 million viewers tuning in on the statewide public TV network. The series has visited over 500 farms, fisheries, and other agriculture-related locations in all Maryland counties, as well as Baltimore City and Washington D.C.
