DURANGO ~ Fort Lewis College and the Office of Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera joined forces to host a special early screening of the Lt. Governor's new documentary, A Colorado for All: A Legacy of Accessibility. The event, held at Fort Lewis College's Student Union, brought together a diverse group of attendees including disability advocates, Tribal Council members, community leaders, students, and faculty.
The film, which premiered in late July as part of Colorado's 250/150 celebration, delves into the state's rich history of disability rights and the leaders who paved the way for greater inclusion. Through powerful storytelling and reflection, the documentary highlights Colorado's proud legacy of leadership in the disability rights movement.
Following the screening, Lt. Governor Primavera engaged in a candid Q&A session with Kendra Gallegos Reichle, Interim Vice President of Diversity Affairs at FLC. The discussion shed light on Primavera's lifelong commitment to accessibility and equity.

In her statement at the event, Lt. Governor Primavera expressed her pride in Colorado's history and challenged attendees to continue working towards a state where every person can thrive. "This documentary not only honors that history," she said, "but also challenges us to carry forward the work of building a state where every person can thrive."
This was the first campus screening of A Colorado for All: A Legacy of Accessibility. In the coming months, Lt. Governor Primavera plans to share it with colleges and universities across Colorado before making it available for broader public screenings through broadcast and online platforms in early 2026.
FLC President Heather Shotton also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of bringing this conversation to Fort Lewis College. "Creating space for our students and community members to learn from the past while engaging directly with leaders shaping Colorado's future is crucial," she stated. "We are honored to be part of this important conversation."
The documentary showcases Colorado's significant contributions to the national disability rights movement, featuring stories of activists whose work helped transform accessibility standards nationwide. Through this film, Lt. Governor Primavera hopes to inspire and educate audiences about the state's legacy of accessibility and the ongoing fight for equity and inclusion.
