Long Beach to Host Planning for Housing and HOME Roadshow Open House
Rezul News/10726331
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach residents will have the opportunity to learn about the city's housing production efforts and rezoning projects at the upcoming Planning for Housing: An Open House event. The City of Long Beach Community Development Department (Department) will be hosting the event on Tuesday, Feb 10, 2026, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Bixby Park Community Center.
The open house aims to provide a platform for residents to explore various topics related to housing, including the Enhanced Density Bonus (EDB) Ordinance. One of the highlights of the event will be a workshop on the EDB Ordinance, where staff will present an updated draft with proposed changes and gather feedback from community members. This feedback will then be presented to the Planning Commission in April 2026 and the Long Beach City Council in June 2026 for final adoption.
In addition to discussing housing policies, this event also serves as part of the Housing and Homelessness Opportunities, Mobilization and Engagement (HOME) Community Roadshow. This initiative, led by the City's Office of Homeless Strategy and Partnerships, aims to facilitate open dialogue around housing and homelessness issues in Long Beach.

The open house will cover a range of other topics such as zoning, urban planning, and housing initiatives like Everyone's Coast, Zone In: 10th to Broadway, Downtown Shoreline Vision Plan, Accessory Dwelling Units, Open Space and Recreation Element Update, Religious Facilities Overlay and Housing Element Mid-Cycle Analysis. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with staff from various departments including Planning Bureau, Building and Safety Bureau, Housing and Neighborhood Services Bureau as well as representatives from the Office of Homeless Strategy and Partnerships.
The feedback collected during this event will play a crucial role in guiding the City's housing policy work. It supports the goals of the certified Sixth Cycle (2021–2029) Housing Element and ensures alignment with state housing mandates. The City is committed to creating equitable and inclusive housing policies that address the diverse needs of Long Beach residents.
Spanish interpretation services will be available on-site, and other languages can be requested by emailing CDHousingPolicy@longbeach.gov. While pre-registration is not required, it is highly encouraged and can be done at lbcd.info/planningforhousing.
For media inquiries, please contact Craig Nakano, Community Information Officer at the Community Development Department at 562.570.7174 or Craig.Nakano@longbeach.gov.
This open house event is just one of the many ways in which the City of Long Beach is working towards its commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable community for all residents.
