Long Beach to Host Community Meetings on Proposed Mobile Food Facilities Ordinance
Rezul News/10719769
Long Beach, CA ~ The City of Long Beach is taking steps to regulate food trucks and other mobile food facilities by proposing a new ordinance. This proposed ordinance, which has been in the works for several years and is based on national best practices, aims to establish guidelines for permits, licenses, parking, and general operating requirements.
To inform the community about this potential ordinance, the city will be hosting two meetings. The first meeting will be a virtual information session on Wednesday, November 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. via Zoom. Long Beach residents are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed ordinance and ask questions during a Q&A segment. Those interested in attending can register for the meeting online. For those unable to attend, a recording of the session will be made available on the City's Mobile Food Facilities webpage.
The second meeting will be an in-person event specifically for current and prospective food truck and mobile food facility operators. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Billie Jean King Main Library. Operators will receive practical information on how they can comply with the potential ordinance and have the chance to speak with City staff about any necessary paperwork. While pre-registration is encouraged, it is not mandatory for this event.

Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog will be available at both meetings to ensure accessibility for all members of the community.
In addition to these meetings, an online feedback form will be shared during and after the events for any public comments on the proposed ordinance. This feedback will be compiled by staff and presented to the Long Beach City Council when they consider adopting the ordinance in early 2026.
The proposed ordinance was outlined in a memo released on August 20th, 2025 and presented to the City Council on September 23rd, 2025. To stay updated on the progress of the ordinance and for more information, interested individuals can visit the City's Mobile Food Facilities webpage.
For media inquiries, Grace Yoon, Deputy City Manager, can be contacted at Grace.Yoon@longbeach.gov.
