Long Beach to Host Citywide College & Career Expo on October 21

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the City of Long Beach will be hosting the highly anticipated College & Career Expo in partnership with Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), S.T.R.E.A.M. Global, the Long Beach College Promise, Port of Long Beach, California State University, Long Beach, and other educational and workforce partners. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center Arena located at 300 E. Ocean Blvd.

The Expo aims to bring together students, families, educators, and local and industry leaders for an immersive and hands-on experience to explore future opportunities. This event is free and open to the public.

Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the Expo stating that it is a commitment to supporting the future of young residents in Long Beach. He believes that by bringing together local leaders, innovators, educators, and industry professionals under one roof, they can work towards closing opportunity gaps and inspiring students to dream big and pursue their passions.

The Expo will provide students and families with opportunities to explore various career pathways in sectors such as aerospace and engineering, health and medical fields, skilled trades and apprenticeships, local government and public service, business, technology, creative arts and more.

Representatives from different City departments including Fire Department, Police Department Parks Recreation & Marine Department Health & Human Services Department Library Arts & Culture Department Financial Management Department Economic Development & Opportunity Department as well as industry leaders professionals post-secondary institutions will be present at the event. They will provide participants with real-world insight through live demos conversations career simulations.

Deputy City Manager Teresa Chandler emphasized the importance of providing students with access to diverse career paths and educational resources in breaking down barriers and expanding horizons. She believes that this Expo offers a vital opportunity for youth to explore possibilities they may not have considered before while fostering equity and empowerment in the community.

Dr. Carrie Wiley, LBUSD Program Administrator for College & Career Readiness, expressed her excitement for the reimagined Expo. She stated that through the partnership with the City of Long Beach and education and industry partners, they are creating an experience that connects learning to real-world opportunities and helps every student envision their path forward.

The College & Career Expo aligns with the goals of the Grow Long Beach Economic Blueprint and the City's 2030 Strategic Vision. It also reflects the shared vision and commitment of the Long Beach College Promise, a partnership among the City, LBUSD, CSULB, and Long Beach City College to support student success and workforce readiness while aligning K-12, college, and career opportunities for Long Beach youth.

The event is a reimagining of the Community Job Fair which was last held in June 2022 but took a three-year hiatus due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parking will be available for $5 at the Long Beach Arena Garage on Seaside Way and South Hart Place. Additionally, LBUSD high school students will have the opportunity to attend this event as a field trip during school hours prior to it opening to the public.
