Long Beach: Spring Recreation Classes Open for Registration February 2

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the spring season approaches, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is gearing up to offer over 700 classes, activities, sports and leagues for people of all ages and abilities. Registration for these classes will begin on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026 and will be available online, by phone and in person.
With a wide range of options available, community members can choose from various classes that cater to different age groups and interests. From preschoolers to older adults, there is something for everyone this spring.
For the little ones aged six months to those about to start school, PRM offers a variety of classes that provide a nurturing social setting while learning new skills. The Parent and Me Soccer class is perfect for toddlers aged 2 to 3 years and 6 months as they are introduced to soccer through fun and age-appropriate activities that also help build their motor and socialization skills. The Preschool Gymnastics class is another popular option for children aged 4 to 7 years where they can learn the basics of floor work in a fast-paced and enjoyable environment. For those interested in music, the Little Music Makers class allows children aged 3 to 5 years to develop an understanding of music through songs, drum circles and other creative activities.

For youth aged 7 to 14 years old, PRM offers a K-Pop Musical Theater Camp where they can learn K-Pop choreography inspired by Huntrix's bold style and Saja Boys' stage presence. This class also encourages participants to create their own characters while building confidence through singing, dancing and performance. Another exciting option is the Comedy, Confidence and Improv class which allows youth to explore their imagination through hilarious improv games and sketch comedy while promoting teamwork and bold choices.
Teens can also find a variety of classes that support their enrichment and well-being. From aquatics to life skills, there is something for everyone. The Aquatics class is perfect for those aged 13 to 17 years who want to learn and improve their fundamental aquatic skills while building comfortability in the water and refining their techniques in all swim strokes. For those interested in becoming a favorite babysitter, the Babysitter, First-Aid, CPR & AED Training class teaches safe and fun skills that every family wants in a babysitter. And for those looking to learn a new instrument, the Teen Ukulele class offers beginner group lessons with ukuleles provided.
Adults can also find a wide range of classes that promote lifelong education, movement and healthy living. From arts and culture to fitness and music, there is something for everyone. The Tennis Red Ball class is perfect for those picking up a racquet for the first time as it introduces the game using low-compression balls in an easy-to-learn environment. For those preparing for a wedding or just wanting to improve their dance skills, the Wedding Dance Survival class teaches nightclub to ballroom basics. And for those looking to cultivate wellness and vitality, the Mindfulness Tai Chi & Qigong class offers instruction on these healing martial arts.

For older adults aged 50 years and up, PRM offers classes that support healthy bodies and cognitive minds while creating fun and engaging social connections. The Ballroom Dance: Waltz & Friends class allows participants to move to feel-good music while improving balance, coordination, memory and mood with gentle, patterned steps guided by a cognitive mobility expert. Other options include Spanish for Seniors where practical conversation skills are taught at a comfortable pace and Chair Based Yoga which incorporates the use of a chair for various poses and movements as well as meditation, breathing and relaxation techniques.

The latest issue of Recreation Connection, PRM's recreation catalog, will also be available online and in hard copy at Long Beach parks community centers and Long Beach Public Library locations starting the week of Jan. 26.
