Long Beach Animal Care Services Launches New Pet Licensing Program with DocuPet
Rezul News/10721463
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has recently announced an enhancement to its pet licensing process, making it easier for local pet owners to ensure the safety and protection of their furry companions. This new system, in partnership with DocuPet, North America's leading pet registration and lost pet recovery service, aims to bring peace of mind to the community and support responsible pet ownership.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating that pets bring so much love into our homes and it is important to provide them with the care and protection they deserve. "With the addition of DocuPet to our local pet licensing system, we are giving families a simple, modern tool to keep their pets protected while supporting responsible pet ownership," said Mayor Richardson.
Under this new service, every pet registration at Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) will now include a DocuPet license tag and access to HomeSafe, a 24/7 lost pet service. Each tag features a unique identification code linked to an online pet profile where owners can upload photos and important information such as behavior notes, medical history, and emergency contacts. This will help expedite the process of identifying and reuniting lost pets with their families.

In case a pet goes missing, owners can also list a Lost Pet Report which will be shared instantly with Petco Love Lost and DocuPet's National Animal Shelter Network. These tools allow shelters to quickly identify pets using identification codes, microchip data, and unique markings. With the help of DocuPet's dedicated dispatch team and community partners, lost pets can often be reunited with their families before even entering a shelter.
Aside from providing an additional layer of protection for pets, this partnership also benefits LBACS by helping them manage licensing more efficiently. This allows resources to be directed towards essential animal care and community programs. Other benefits for pet owners include an improved licensing experience through DocuPet's online portal, enhanced customer service with timely reminders, and the option to upgrade their pet's tag design with a portion of the purchase donated to LBACS.
Melanie Wagner, Manager of LBACS, emphasized the importance of licensing for pet owners and how this partnership with DocuPet makes the process simpler while providing extra protection and resources for lost pets. "Pets wearing license tags are reunited with their families much faster than unlicensed pets," said Grant Goodwin, CEO of DocuPet. "We're proud to work with Long Beach Animal Care Services to bring these benefits to the community."
