Juneau: Full Day Closure at CBJ Facilities on December 31

~ Juneau, Alaska - The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) has announced the closure of all its facilities today due to hazardous road conditions caused by heavy snowfall overnight. Residents are advised to exercise caution and limit driving until road conditions improve.
The closure affects all CBJ facilities and offices, including the Juneau Public Libraries, Juneau Douglas City Museum, and Juneau Parks & Recreation facilities such as the Dimond Park Field House, Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Augustus G. Brown Pool, Treadwell Arena, and Zach Gordon Youth Center. However, the Shéiyi X̱aat Hit Youth Shelter will remain open.
In addition, City Hall, the CBJ Permit Center, and all other CBJ offices will be closed to the public but can still be reached by phone or email. The Juneau Recycling Center will also be closed for the day.

While Capital Transit continues to operate on winter routes, residents are encouraged to visit juneaucapitaltransit.org for more information.
CBJ City Manager Katie Koester has issued a message urging residents to limit driving today for their safety and that of others. She also expressed gratitude towards the community for coming together during this challenging winter storm.
"This winter storm has been relentless," said Koester. "But Juneau always pulls together when confronted with adversity. We've seen so many examples of neighbors helping neighbors in both big and small ways that truly matter."
Koester also thanked essential crews for their tireless efforts in keeping the community safe and running during this record-breaking event. She also expressed appreciation towards residents for their patience, high spirits, and acts of service throughout this storm.
