JaapDaily passes 22 million chants, adds big-screen Recite Along view for Navratri

LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Rezul -- Navratri begins on 11 October, and JaapDaily — a free japa counter for iPhone, Android and Apple Watch — has released a big-screen "Recite Along" view for the ten days of chanting. The app has counted more than 22 million mantra repetitions since it launched in June.

The view opens any of the app's 114 aarti and chalisa texts on a laptop, projector or TV, showing one verse at a time in large Devanagari with a QR code in the corner. Devotees scan it to follow the same text on their own phones. Nothing is installed, no account is created, and the page keeps working without a connection once loaded — which matters in a mandap with poor signal.

Founder Dishika Singh built the app after losing count during her own daily practice. "I lost count of my mala 30 times before I built this," said Singh. "JaapDaily exists as seva — selfless service. It will always be free, with no ads and no subscription, because a spiritual practice shouldn't sit behind a paywall."

The app includes 74 naams — among them Ram, Radha, Shiva, Hanuman and Waheguru — and 39 mantras including Om Namah Shivaya and the Gayatri Mantra, with the interface in 20 languages. The naam and mantra text itself is never translated or machine-transliterated.

Every text follows a published sourcing policy: each one is checked against at least two independently transcribed sources, and a text that cannot be verified that way is left out rather than guessed at.

Other features include a 108-bead mala ring, volume-button counting, an Apple Watch app with Digital Crown counting, karaoke-style scrolling lyrics, a dual-counter Anushthan mode and full offline use. Sign-in is optional and syncs across devices.

The app's Instagram account, @jaapdaily, has more than 40,000 followers; one Radhe Radhe video has drawn more than 520,000 likes. Singh follows the teachings of Pujya Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Maharaj.
