~ Idaho Falls, Bonneville County and the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council will hold an open house Nov. 5 to discuss proposed safety improvements at the intersection of 15th East and 49th South.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bonneville County Fairgrounds Carriage House, 1542 E. 73rd South. Attendees can review proposed designs and provide comments.
Plans include traffic signals, left-turn lanes, streetlights, pedestrian ramps and crosswalks. The city said the project is funded by a federal grant intended to address crashes at the intersection. There were 26 crashes there between 2018 and 2022, according to the city.

The city said the intersection serves as an important route for southern Idaho Falls and that further development is expected to increase traffic in the area.
People unable to attend can review information and submit comments through an online form at https://arcg.is/LGDvC. Comments will be accepted through Nov. 20.
Design plans are expected to be finalized in early 2027, with construction anticipated to begin in late 2027 or early 2028, the city said.
