Idaho Falls Power celebrates 125 years of community energy with ribbon cutting for new Peaking Plant
Rezul News/10725818
~ Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber are urging residents to be cautious and aware of misleading sales tactics that have recently been reported in the community. The two city-owned utilities have received reports of door-to-door salespeople making false claims about rate increases and alternative services, such as solar, using misleading materials with the utilities' logos.
According to Idaho Falls Power, these claims are not true and the utility has not implemented any rate increases related to these rumors. Any changes in rates are communicated directly to customers through official channels such as utility bills, mailed notices, the city website, and city-managed communication platforms. The utility also reminds residents that they offer some of the lowest electricity rates in the nation.
Idaho Falls Fiber has also received reports of inaccurate claims regarding their fiber and internet services. While Idaho Falls Fiber provides the city-owned fiber infrastructure for high-speed internet connections up to one gigabit download and upload speeds, they do not sell internet service directly. Instead, they partner with multiple independent internet service providers, giving residents the freedom to choose their preferred provider and pricing. Customers who subscribe to Idaho Falls Fiber services will see a $25 monthly infrastructure fee on their utility bill, which is waived if fiber service is discontinued.

To ensure transparency and accuracy, current electric rates and official service information can be found on the Idaho Falls Power website while fiber service details and pricing information can be found on the Idaho Falls Fiber website.
Residents are reminded that any door-to-door sales activity within the city must be permitted and salespeople should be able to present a valid city permit and photo identification upon request. Customers should never feel pressured to provide personal or account information.
Stephen Boorman, Interim General Manager of Idaho Falls Power, encourages customers to verify information before taking any action. He advises them to contact their office directly if something seems suspicious or inaccurate so they can provide accurate information about rates, billing, or services.
As public-service utilities, Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber prioritize transparency, reliable infrastructure, fair rates, and long-term value for the community. Residents with questions about their electric or fiber services are encouraged to contact Idaho Falls Power at (208) 612-8140 or Idaho Falls Fiber at (208) 612-8725 for accurate information.

This is not the first time that Idaho Falls Power has addressed misleading information in the community. In December 2025, they posted a similar warning on their website and in November 2025, they shared an update on their efforts to provide reliable and affordable electricity to residents. In September 2025, they also reminded customers to be cautious of potential scams related to their services.
Residents are advised to stay informed and vigilant about any potential misleading sales tactics and to contact the utilities directly for accurate information.
