TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Urban Meyer and reappointed Mark Bauerlein and Debra Jenks to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees.
Meyer, a well-known figure in the world of college football, currently serves as a College Football Analyst for FOX Sports. He brings a wealth of experience to the board, having previously served as the Head Football Coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, The Ohio State University, and the University of Florida. During his time at these institutions, Meyer achieved great success, winning multiple national championships. In 2025, he was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Meyer holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in sports administration from The Ohio State University.

Joining Meyer on the board is Mark Bauerlein, PhD. Bauerlein is currently the Editor of First Things Magazine and Professor Emeritus of English at Emory University. He also has previous experience as the Director of the Office of Research and Analysis at the National Endowment for the Arts. Bauerlein earned his doctorate in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Debra Jenks has been reappointed to the board after previously serving as a Partner and Attorney at Jenks & Harvey, LLP. She is also actively involved in her community and currently serves as a Commissioner on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. Jenks holds a bachelor's degree from New College of Florida and a juris doctor from Lewis and Clark Law School.
These appointments are now pending confirmation by the Florida Senate. Once confirmed, Meyer, Bauerlein, and Jenks will join other esteemed members on the New College of Florida Board of Trustees to help guide and shape its future endeavors.
