Governor Abbott Reappoints Chang, Partee To Texas Commission On The Arts

~ Houston, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the reappointment of Theresa Chang and Karen Partee to the Texas Commission on the Arts. Their terms are set to expire on August 31, 2031.
The Texas Commission on the Arts is responsible for fostering a welcoming environment for the arts in the state. This includes enriching and benefiting the lives of citizens through cultural experiences and attracting talented artists to become residents of Texas.
Theresa Chang, a Houston native, is an attorney in Harris County. She brings a wealth of experience to her role on the commission, having previously served as Judge of Harris County Civil Court #2. Chang is also a member of several prestigious organizations such as the State Bar of Texas, Law Focused Education Inc. Board of Directors, and South Texas College of Law Board of Directors and Executive Committee. She has also held positions on the University of Houston Board of Regents, Asian American Bar Association of Houston Board of Directors, and Commission for Lawyer Discipline. In addition to her professional achievements, Chang is also involved in various arts organizations such as Houston Grand Opera Underwriters, Theater Under the Stars Board of Directors, Asia Society of Texas Board of Directors, and Chinese Community Center Board of Directors and Executive Committee. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University, a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University Kingsville, and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.

Karen Partee hails from McKinney and currently serves as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Texas Bank and Trust Company. She has been chairing the Texas Commission on the Arts since January 2024. Partee is a certified financial marketing professional through the Institute of Certified Bankers and serves as a board member for both American Bankers Association's School of Bank Marketing and ABA Certified Financial Marketing Professionals Board. She is also actively involved in her community as a national board member of the Texas Tech Alumni Association, past president and sustaining member of the Junior League of Longview, and former member of The University of Texas at Tyler College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board and Longview Museum of Fine Arts Advisory Board. Partee holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Texas Tech University, an honors diploma from ABA School of Bank Marketing and Management, and a certification from the American Institute of Bankers.
