Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas State Board Of Physical Therapy Examiners

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three new members to the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Tiffany Barrett, PT, DPT, DSc of Waco, Mourad Hasbaoui of Corpus Christi, and Heather Jackson PT, DPT of Denton will all serve on the board for terms set to expire on January 31, 2031.

Barrett brings a wealth of experience to the board as a clinical associate professor for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Baylor University. She is also an active member of professional organizations such as the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy. Barrett's expertise in orthopedic physical therapy is further demonstrated by her Board Certification in this field. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado, and a Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences from Texas Tech University.

Joining Barrett on the board is Mourad Hasbaoui, owner of HTF Consulting LLC in Corpus Christi. Hasbaoui's background in political science from the University of Houston and his current pursuit of a Master's degree in this field from Sam Houston State University will bring a unique perspective to the board. He also serves as a board member for the World Affairs Council of South Texas.

Rounding out the new appointments is Heather Jackson PT, DPT from Denton. Jackson currently works as a physical therapist at Vista Physical Therapy and holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Union University and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

The Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners is responsible for licensing and regulating physical therapy practice within the state. With these new appointments, Governor Abbott has ensured that experienced and knowledgeable individuals will continue to oversee this important aspect of healthcare for years to come.
