Georgia: Gov. Kemp Announces TCSG, Mercer Transfer Agreements
Rezul News/10726200
ATLANTA ~ In a move to strengthen Georgia's workforce pipeline and reduce barriers to completion, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and Mercer University have signed new transfer agreements. These agreements, known as articulation agreements, will create seamless pathways for technical college students to earn bachelor's degrees in high-demand fields.
Under these partnerships, graduates from any of TCSG's 22 colleges will now have the opportunity to transfer into Mercer University's Bachelor of Business Administration programs in Accounting, Business Technology, Human Resource Management, and Management. Additionally, graduates of TCSG's Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) programs will have a clear pathway to transfer into Mercer's Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program.
Governor Kemp expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration between TCSG and Mercer University, stating that it is another example of how Georgia is ensuring its workforce is equipped with the necessary skills for success in various industries. He also thanked Commissioner Greg Dozier and President Penny L. Elkins for their efforts in creating this partnership that will benefit Georgia students for years to come.

This latest announcement adds to the four previous articulation agreements between TCSG and the University System of Georgia in fields such as nursing, teaching, cybersecurity, and accounting. These pathways are designed to minimize credit loss and prevent duplication of coursework, ultimately saving students time and money while accelerating their progress towards a four-year degree.
Commissioner Dozier emphasized the importance of meeting students where they are and supporting them throughout their academic journey towards meaningful careers. He also noted that this partnership directly aligns with Governor Kemp's vision for Georgia to be the Top State for Talent by providing affordable pathways from technical education to bachelor's degrees in high-demand fields.
Mercer University President Dr. Penny L. Elkins echoed Commissioner Dozier's sentiments by highlighting the strengths that technical college students bring to the table, including strong academic preparation, real-world experience, and a commitment to their communities. She also emphasized the university's role in advancing Georgia's goal of being the Top State for Talent while providing students with an efficient and affordable route to bachelor's degrees in business and nursing.
