TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed two new members and reappointed one member to the State Board of Education. The newly appointed members are Erika Fritz-Ochs and Luis Fuste, while Dr. Grazie Christie has been reappointed.

Fritz-Ochs brings a wealth of experience to the board as the Program Manager of the University of Florida's Lastinger Center for Learning. She has previously worked as an Educational Policy Consultant for the Florida Department of Education, a Research and Training Specialist for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and a Teacher for Leon County Schools and Pasco County Schools. Fritz-Ochs holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Saint Leo University and a master's degree in elementary education and teaching from Nova Southeastern University.

Joining her on the board is Luis Fuste, an Attorney at Fuste Law, P.A. Fuste is actively involved in his community and has served on various boards such as Little Bear Big Heart, Inc., Doral College Board of Trustees, Florida Commission on Ethics, and Board of Chiropractic Medicine. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Barry University and his juris doctor from Florida International University.

The third member to be reappointed is Dr. Grazie Christie, a self-employed Radiologist with 25 years of experience in radiology and diagnostics in the Miami area. She is also an active member of Americans United for Life. Dr. Christie holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Miami.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate before they can officially join the State Board of Education. With their diverse backgrounds and expertise, these individuals are expected to bring valuable insights to help shape education policies in Florida.
