Evansville: Mayor Terry Invites Community Proposals for Opioid Settlement Fund
Rezul News/10750228
EVANSVILLE, Ind. ~ Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry is inviting community organizations and service providers to apply for $500,000 in city funding for opioid prevention, treatment and recovery programs in 2027.
The money comes from national legal settlements with opioid manufacturers and distributors. Proposals must align with approved uses in Exhibit E of the National Opioid Settlement Agreement and identify the Johns Hopkins category or categories they address, according to the city's announcement.
Each request must be no more than two pages and include the amount sought, how the money would be used, the project's anticipated impact and a plan for sustaining it after settlement funding ends. Applicants seeking support for part of a larger project must also describe the broader effort and the portion the city funding would cover.

The city said it will prioritize proposals addressing treatment, prevention and harm reduction for people with or at risk of opioid or substance use disorders. It also cited services for populations disproportionately affected, including youth, justice-involved people, unhoused residents, veterans and people with co-occurring mental health disorders. Proposals that use evidence-based practices and include data-driven evaluation and measurable outcomes will also receive priority.
Terry will convene a panel of local experts and officials to review applications and make funding recommendations.
The mayor said the funding would support organizations serving residents affected by opioid use and strengthen local prevention, treatment and recovery efforts. She encouraged nonprofits, health providers and community partners to apply.
Applications must be emailed to mayor@evansville.in.gov with the subject line "Opioid Settlement Fund Request 2027." The deadline is midnight Dec. 31, 2026.
