Dermer Dreams Announces 2026 "100 Yard Food Drive Challenge II"

New Jersey Students Unite to Fill Howell High School Football Field in Fight Against Hunger
HOWELL, N.J. - Rezul -- Dermer Dreams, the New Jersey-based nonprofit powered by teenagers to fight hunger one bag at a time, has announced the return of its signature 100 Yard Food Drive Challenge, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Howell High School.
Following the remarkable success of the inaugural 2025 Challenge at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, which attracted national media attention from CNN, Dermer Dreams is bringing the event to Howell High School with an ambitious goal: filling the football field with the organization's iconic yellow donation bags to support food banks and families facing food insecurity throughout New Jersey.

The 2025 Challenge united nearly 1,000 students, families, volunteers, businesses, and community partners, generating tens of thousands of food donations for distribution across New Jersey. Building on that momentum, the 2026 Challenge aims to engage even more schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and civic organizations throughout Monmouth County and beyond.
"What began as a local food drive has grown into a powerful movement led by young people," said Daniel Dermer, Co-Founder and CEO of Dermer Dreams. "The 100 Yard Food Drive Challenge demonstrates that students can make a meaningful difference while developing leadership, teamwork, and community service skills."

Through its Neighborhood Captain Program, students organize food drives in their own neighborhoods, schools, sports teams, businesses, and communities while earning volunteer service hours and inspiring others to get involved.
With the support of Howell High School Principal Jeremy Braverman and Athanasia "Stacy" Gregorakis-Chrysanthou, a Social Studies and Special Education teacher at Howell High School, Dermer Dreams believes the school is poised to take the 100 Yard Food Drive Challenge to the next level. The campaign is launching community-wide recruitment efforts, sponsorship opportunities, and student leadership initiatives leading up to the October event.
"We are excited to bring this challenge to Howell High School and invite schools throughout Monmouth County to join us," said Alyse Dermer, Co-Founder of Dermer Dreams. "A football field covered in yellow donation bags is a powerful visual, but what matters most is what it represents: students, families, educators, businesses, and community members coming together to help neighbors facing food insecurity."
As students prepare for a new school year, Dermer Dreams hopes to inspire a new generation of young leaders to take action against food insecurity, a challenge that exists in every community. Through the 100 Yard Food Drive Challenge, students are proving they can create meaningful change while helping neighbors in need.
