A substantial portion of legitimate price difference, the guidance states, lies in the construction of the vacuum insulation: the number of layers of multilayer insulation, the outgassing behaviour of internal materials, and getter capacity, the chemically active component that maintains the evacuated annulus and determines how long a vessel holds its performance. None of these factors is verifiable on delivery.

On compliance, the article notes that BCGA Code of Practice 36 requires at least two independent safety devices on the inner vessel of a pressurised tank, typically a pressure relief valve and a separate bursting disc, with the outer jacket relief device set to open at not more than 0.5 bar.
