Rezul News/10723211
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Regional Airport (COU) will soon offer nonstop flights to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), thanks to a new partnership with American Airlines. Beginning June 4, 2026, travelers from mid-Missouri will have access to over 300 global destinations with just one connection.
This new route is in addition to American's existing services from COU to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). According to City Manager De'Carlon Seewood, this expansion is a significant milestone for COU and a win for the community.
"We're thrilled to grow our partnership with American Airlines, bringing even more travel options to our community," said Seewood. "Charlotte has been a destination regional travelers have repeatedly expressed interest in, so this is an important milestone for COU and a win for the travelers who rely on us."
American's director of Domestic Network Planning, Jordan Pack, also expressed excitement about the new route. "American is proud to offer more flights than any other airline from COU, and we're thrilled to add new flights to Charlotte," said Pack. "CLT is American's second-largest hub with service to more than 170 destinations, putting even more of the world within reach from COU."

The addition of these flights will not only benefit travelers but also support economic drivers and major employers in the community, such as the University of Missouri. University President Mun Choi emphasized the importance of expanded air service for students and the broader community.
"Expanded air service is a tremendous benefit to our university and the broader community," said Choi. "For our students, convenient flights make it easier to head home for the holidays and enjoy safe, affordable travel for spring break. As Mizzou continues to grow and pursue bold goals for the future, convenient, local, enhanced air service enables us to stay connected, support student success and strengthen our vibrant campus community."
The impact of Columbia Regional Airport's expansion extends beyond the city, signaling broader economic growth and connectivity for the entire state. Reservations for the new flights will be available for booking starting December 22, 2025, on aa.com or through American's mobile app.
